Urdu Glowing Light of Freedom Struggle.

 

 

 

 

Urdu Journalism and Urdu Press which played a very dominant role in the struggle for freedom from the British, and helped voice freedom movement both in print and in mass communication of the freedom fighters, it this mother tongue of mine which had the potential to voice the feelings and agony of millions of Hindus and Muslims and Sikhs towards the British Rule.

And this is the language which gave the Freedom punch lines “Azadi Hamar Haq Hai” “Inqlaab Zindabad” and this is the language which helped the great poet and Scholar and Thinker of yester years to write Sare Jahan Se Achah Hindustan Hamara one of our national songs which give the Indians the needed unity Platform to be proud of.

Fall in Urdu Publications

Observations of GD Chandan who is also called ‘mobile encyclopaedia of Urdu journalism’, said that according to statistics, in 1997 the short in his report In India’s research institution, National Documentation Centre on Mass Communication.

“ says that after Independence even in spite unfavourable circumstances there was a four-fold increase in the number of Urdu newspapers and almost seven-fold increase in their publication during 50 years, almost till the end of 1990’s but from the golden jubilee year of Independence i.e. 1997 onwards Urdu journalism began to decline. According to latest statistics, publication of Urdu newspapers in the year 2001 was reduced to 51, 6,182 whereas it was 61, 20,317 in 2000.”

GD Chandan, fall in the publication of Urdu newspapers as compared to the previous years was 7 percent and this trend is going on continuously. This trend is more visible in states like Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab where Urdu was very popular formerly.

Two Main Resons for Decline.

1. Firstly, a fairly large percentage of Urdu newspaper readers consisted of refugees of West Punjab who are now leaving this place one after the other. Their new generation is ignorant of Urdu.

2. Secondly, the state governments are not taking suitable steps for

Providing and promoting Urdu education at primary level

Lack of Honesty on the part of Govt.

In addition to all this, though all states have accepted the three-language formula, none of them has seriously and honestly put it into practice. Describing this mentality as extremely disappointing, he says that this should be the eye-opener to those selfish and opportunist politicians who have been making false promises for 57 years for the promotion of this language.

Urdu – Voice of 180 million Muslims in India.

Referring to official statistics that 70 million Indians have declared Urdu as their mother tongue, Urdu press represents and highlights the problems and aspirations of more than 180 million Muslims of India.

Role of Urdu in Present times.

Moreover, it (Urdu Press) can play an important role in promoting mutual relations with the neighbouring country Pakistan whose official language is also Urdu.

What Muslims can do to Promote Urdu.

Out of 4,34,06,932 (roughly speaking 4.5 core) Urdu speaking people (as per the 1991 census report) if every adult person of half of that number starts purchasing at least one Urdu daily and one Urdu magazine punctually, the situation can drastically change.

Negative Journalism in Urdu Press.

Urdu has a very crucial role to play in building the Muslim Community and keeping them informed and educated. Each word in the print and electronic media should be written and spoken with great care and keeping the mind the responsibility it carries with it.

The truth is to be said at any cost, but in desire to keep the community charged, and get the market share in the Urdu media one should not resort to journalism of opportunism, hate, and divide. In the process risking the image of community, and its honour.

The media in India is said to be not very fair towards Muslims, when a person Questioned Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai Editor of CNN ibn, that his channel is Anti Hindu? On a chat Session with him. Mr. Rajeev answered. Our job is to tell the truth at any cost. I am happy that we have people like Rajeev and channels like his who are committed to tell the truth. The soul of Journalism is in say in the truth when even if it hurts you most with our fear and considerations, in all its glory. Truth has to prevail always.

When Miss Barcia Dutt of NDTV says the Urdu press is, one sided and is not providing the true picture of the Nation and is damaging the true cause of the Muslims, specially in the case of Mumbai Terror Act coverage by the Urdu Media. May be she is not fully right but the Urdu media should know where they can improve, respond to her and give her the right picture if she is wrong.

Some very important issues which concern the Muslim World are not addressed by the Urdu Media like they deserve to be.

1 Educating the people of India to vote in full strength and its importance in present political set up. Vote is our Right we Muslims should be with all understanding and Courage.

2. History of Islam, and the Glory and how Islam ruled the world for hundreds of years with respect dignity and firmness, and the true inner story of the Middle East Conflict. And Mistakes committed by the Muslims.

3. Exposing the conspiracy that is a burning issue with respect to Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. And saying that Qubatul Sharq the octagonal mosque with Golden Dome is not Masjid Al Aqsa. The real Masjid Al Aqsa is in on towards Mecca the South of Baitul Maqdas, a Al Aqsa Mosque with Black Dome and massive rectangular Structure.

The Urdu press has bigger responsibility than the English press when it comes to Muslims of the Country.

Urdu can help in Shaping our Nation. . 

Urdu is the depository of the composite culture of India. As such it can be one of the subtle and powerful instruments of national integration, communal harmony and social amity in our vast country of rich diversities. Urdu newspapers are to-day scattered all over India in small groups without much capital to support them

The Gujral Initiative 

The Committee appointed by the Government of India in 1972 for the promotion of Urdu under the Chairmanship of Shri I.K. Gujral made important recommendations in relation to Urdu journalism. These include providing loans and financial assistance by nationalised banks to Urdu press, simplifying procedures for giving newsprint to small newspapers in Urdu, relaxation in conditions for giving advertisements to Urdu newspapers

 Urdu the Third Largest Publication in India. After Hindi and English.

To-day Urdu journalism occupies the third largest position in India after Hindi and English. Urdu papers are brought out in 15 States and 2 union territories of India. With a total of 2670 publications it is the third largest numerical group after Hindi and English. It occupies the second position at all-India level for dailies – there are 495 Urdu dailies.

With these impressive figures the Urdu Press can become a powerful media in the next millennium. During the last two decades Urdu press showed a phenomenal increase according to official statistics. The rate of growth is higher than that of the Indian dailies in all languages put together.

MAGICAL WORDS OF OBAMA

If words can bring change, they have to be these, as spelled by the 44th president of America. It took an African American with Muslim Blood to spell those magical words. World is set to believe that he is the one we all were waiting for ages to show us the way forward to a world of respect, care, equality, hard work, sacrifice that brings happiness, and lasting peace.

Each and every word of his inaugural address has ocean of meaning, it is hard to single out few passages or words, the whole script is magical, and when taken seriously by the people around Obama are sure to bring the change we need.  Here is a man destined craft the rough corners and make them smooth for the world to prosper with conviction and courage.

CAN OBAMA BRING THE CHANGE HE PROMISED

The question before the world today is will Obama be victorious in his commitment to bring the change he promised and give value, to the hope he has induced in millions of people in his America, and across world setting aside barriers of region, religion, colour, sections rich and poor, deprived and advantage.

The 44th President of America Barrack Hussein Obamafirmly places his right foot forward, to take the oath for, the most powerful position in today’s troubled American nation and world full of uncertainties, security threats, failed expeditions, economic challenges, broken nations, troubled sentiments, and pained souls and warring regions across globe.

“Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet”

Hope and Commitment

The issue today is not, Why America failed? And is America responsible in any way to the conflicts and distress and disadvantage in any part world?

The issue is the hope and commitment that the new American President Obamahas brought with him to the world, how true it is? How successful Obamawill be ? In bringing the Promised Change to America and the change in approach of America to the Nations of the world, with his dynamic self.

Will it be easy to move forward and forget and forgive all that is past? Just like that, this has to be seen.

Remaking America

The way forward to come out of this mess America is in today is in the resolve Obama Expects from each American today is in his motivation to the American Nation.

Obama is Blessing

I envy America,  Oh God what a president to lead in the long hours of testing times. America you are lucky to have Obama, America this is your hour of chance Please respect the blessing which has come to you in body and soul in the form of Barrack Hussein Obama.

The world looked at America with tons of scepticism, now, no soul can disagree that one Obama has changed it to Optimism.  Is this not the part of the change he promised?

 The beginnings great, the actions are in the right direction and the strength to take him forward is in his truthful, transparent, vibrant, selfless, courageous attitude on all subjects, be it American common man, economic crisis, Middle East, human rights, or the Muslim world.  Success should not be far now.

 His failure will be less a failure on him it will be a great failure on your part. Let this be known. Me an Indian, and a Muslim, thousands of miles away from Obama is convinced to pray for success of Obama, his success is your success and mine too. May he live long and may he be protected and given courage to do as determined…  Amen. .

Date with Changing History, World is on way for new beginning. 

Success should not be very far, Success bells have started making noise, as Obama pushes his agenda for greater and larger administrative, political, social, moral reforms fast in his first two weeks in office.

This time change will come to deprived and the advantaged alike.

Change is round the corner, it will surely come,

I am optimistic so is every thinking mind on earth, the change will surely come.

The more the world and the American people realise and co operates with Obama the faster the change. We all can be part of this change by acknowledging the wisdom, and desire Obamahas to truthfully help the deprived and the prosperous alike, with out forgeting the poor nations of the world. 

Locks how rusted they may be will open

He has the keys; it is matter of just putting the key in the right lock and unlocks the dream accomplishment. for one and all. Mind you there will be many tough corrosive locks which will take time to open we need to be patient.
